Volunteer Development
Spirit of Volunteerism
Since 1948, 4PM has been a shining example of the spirit of volunteerism. What started as a humble effort by a few to elevate the status of the Malay community has evolved into an expansive network of volunteers from all walks of life, driven by a common purpose - to unite and serve. 4PM continues to advocate the spirit of volunteerism, especially among the youth, to develop their potential and groom them to be future leaders of society.
No voluntary contribution is too small to acknowledge - Even the smallest act of kindness may have an impact on someone’s life.
We exist and succeed ONLY because of the selfless act, passion and continuous commitment from our dedicated pool of volunteers.
Volunteer Management System (VMS)
Volunteer Management System (VMS), our online portal, was launched by Mr Zainul Abidin Rasheed, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, at the recent Tribute to Volunteers (T2V) on 18 Oct 2009.
The online portal offers easy access and self service capabilities such as online registration where volunteers can update their personal records. It also provides information about 4PM upcoming activities, events and trainings, anytime, anywhere 24/7, to volunteers at a clique.
Mentoring @ 4PM
4PM has been involved in mentoring programmes since 2003 when it first embarked on the mentoring journey with Project bITE (bESTARI ITE). Since then, other programmes includes GLEAMS, Projeck Rentak Remaja (P2R), Youth in Action plus (YIA+), YouthLink and PODZ Youth Mentoring.
Mentoring can be defined as a two way relationship between a mentor and mentee who are working towards
enhancing mutual trust, respect and self awareness. Within a given time frame, mentoring seeks to guide,
empower, motivate and support mentees holistically. Under the inspiration of mentors, both individuals strive to
gain experience, development, growth and enrichment in order to provide significant contribution to the society.
Mentoring at 4PM is a value added experience for both mentors and mentees due to the inclusion of 4PM’s E.D.G.E. (Experience, Develop, Grow and Enrich) framework in our mentoring curriculum. A mentor can expect to undergo the proper training and development required to equip himself/herself with the necessary skills and knowledge of being a mentor. At the same time, it is our greatest wish to provide a rewarding mentoring experience, where mentors develop and grow as individuals alongside their mentees. This would then culminate in an enriching experience based on mutual support, trust and respect.
