Light Your Future |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
"Light Your Future" as the name suggests carries with it hope and opportunity, which hopes to bring light into the lives of the less privileged people in our community by adopting a holistic approach. This programme brings together several assistance projects, all of which are based on a common objective of securing a brighter future through better opportunities in welfare, social and education for children as well as their families. "Light Your Future" (LYF) consist of Direct and Support programmes. Direct programmes include case management where the clients will be assessed on their needs and then given direct assistance services such as Emergency Fund, Special Scheme, Annual Food Disbursement, whereas support programmes comprise of Student Support Programme – a subsidized weekly tuition programme and Reading Support Programme – a weekly reading programme for children of low income families, Parent Support Programme as well as the Mentoring Scheme. Since inception in 2003, more that 500 children and parents have benefited for the programmes under LYF. This thrust has been part of 4PM belief that a good education can help break the vicious cycle of poverty. One flagship programme for LYF is the annual Ramadhan on Wheels project (ROW), where volunteers are mobilized to help in the disbursement of food rations to low income families during the month of Ramadhan (fasting month). In 2006, a total of 155 families and 200 volunteers benefited from the ROW. If you have the passion and enjoy working with children, contact nuraisya@4pm.org.sg |
